US Sends Envoys to Islamabad for Iran Peace Talks as War Enters Eighth Week
U.S. President Donald Trump is dispatching his representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad, to begin peace talks with Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, in order to put an end to the eight-week-old war. Despite the fact that the United States is still ready to make a deal, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that the naval blockade of Iranian ports will increase and that America would take lethal action against any attempt made by Iran to plant mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The focus of Iran’s interests now is no longer about resolving nuclear issues but ensuring the permanent termination of the war, getting rid of sanctions imposed on them, and gaining assurances of no aggression from the United States and Israel.
